The biography of session bass guitarist Andy Till
Hello and welcome to my biography!
I have played bass with various types of bands from professional bands, function bands, soul bands, original, name, tribute, full time line-ups to session bands and singers.
My bass influences or say "Hero's" come from Joe Osborn an american session musician who also played a Fender Jazz bass, he had a distinctive pick sound of the sixties on hit's from The Carpenters, Ricky Nelson and playing in the session band The Wrecking Crew. Other players influencing my playing Carole Kay, Bruce Foxton, Ron Blair (Tom Petty & the Heartbrakers), James Jamerson, Sting, Phil Mitchell (Dr Feelgood), Paul McCartney, Bobby Vega, Dan Moss (The Floorshakers) along with others.
A lot of work I have done is live work performing, this is what I love the most travelling playing and seeing places. I have had the pleasure to perform various styles of music from Pop, Rock, Soul, Swing, Disco and original music.
I have done recording work from one off recordings, on going recording work to demo work for bands, singers and songwriters.
Other work I have done and that is great fun is Television and filming work. I have worked on music videos; promo videos and live DVD work.
I have featured on ITV, Channel Four, Bubble Hits TV, and Channel Four Exclusive with an estimated audience of 3 million.
I have played and worked with George Agan and his band, Tipitina jazz/blues band, Mr Methane, Andy Hughes from I am three, Bleeding hands, Definitely Might be, Adored, Maryfield, The Demon Returns, Ste Mak of BBMak, Drummer Darren Andrews, Groove Nation featuring Lou Harper, Pimpin Joe session band, Jimmy Cricket, Elbowroom, Indigo Blue, 4 Play, PP & the Floorshakers, Guitarist John Brindley, Guitarist John Mcalpine, Guitarist Jamie Wallace, Drummer Tony Harrison, Drummer Kitch, Seven Days, The Kommitments, The Jamm, The Deadbeats, Josh's band, Universal Records, Pulse Films, Thirteen Films, Big Fish production, LP Studio's.
My playing goes all over U.K and Europe Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands performing festivals, universities, holiday parks, functions, events, unsigned venues, live venues.
My music influences Pop music, Rock, Blues, Soul, Motown, Stax, The Beatles, The Police, Dr Feelgood, The Jam, Average White Band, Sex Pistols, The Small Faces, Paul Weller, Andy Summers, Steve Gadd, The Gadd Gang, Level 42, Roxy Music, Edwin Starr, Mr Methane, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Earth wind & Fire.....
My Writing:
I have an interest in writing, writing about the bass guitar, it's players, style and performance. Here you can find some of my articles on playing "tip's and advice".
